Writing processes and tasks carried out in second languages offer students opportunities not only to improve their writing skills and understand content, but also real possibilities for the development and learning of the second language. Starting from this premise, Lázaro-Ibarrola reviews the theoretical foundations that support these benefits of writing and analyzes the results of studies that have investigated writing tasks in second languages among participants in the primary school stage. This monograph also proposes new lines of research and offers a series of pedagogical guidelines to implement writing tasks in the classroom.
