Abstract

The importance granted to different language skills has varied according to the predominant methodological focus of the time.  Reading comprehension has gone from being the center of attention in classical models to being barely addressed in more modren ones.  This review analyzes a monograph by Victoria Rodrigo, who has compiled an exhaustive and detailed panorama of all the knowledge that anyone interested in teaching, resesearching, or creating learning materials should know about reading comprehension, paying particular attention to the teaching of Spanish as a second or foreign language.
