Abstract

Foreign language educators are constantly on the outlook for innovative ways to engage students and improve learning outcomes. Didactic Audiovisual Translation and Foreign Language Education by Noa Talaván, Jennifer Lertola, and Alberto Fernández-Costales (2024) proves to be a valuable resource in this quest, championing the use of Didactic Audiovisual Translation (DAT) as a powerful pedagogical tool.

 

Author Biography

Angela Sileo, UNIVERSITY OF MILAN

Angela Sileo obtained a PhD in Humanities at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where she co-founded a research group (TrAdE, Translation and Adaptation from/into English) in 2019. She is now a post-doc research fellow at the University of Milan where she is involved with a project on ELT and accessibility. She teaches English to hearing and DHH students for the BA in Translation and Interpreting in LIS (Italian Sign Language) and LIST (Tactile Italian Sign Language) at the University of Milan – Bicocca, where she had the chance to implement an innovative and deaf-inclusive approach to EFL by using Didactic Subtitling. She has published extensively on Audiovisual Translation, and more specifically on lip sync and linear sync.
