Abstract

This review presents Pierangela Diadori’s book on teaching Italian as a second language to Catholic priests and the use of Italian as a lingua franca in ecclesiastical settings. Alessandra Olevano, Università degli studi di Roma Tre

Alessandra Olevano currently teaches Italian to foreigners; she holds a doctorate in linguistics and extensive experience in archival work. Her research interests include the history of linguistic thought, Jesuit linguistics in Latin American countries between the 1600s and 1700s, Maltese grammar, and Italian pedagogy.
