Language learning using XR. Gen Z and new acquisitional paradigms

Resumen

Este artículo explora la aplicación de las tecnologías de realidad extendida (XR) en el aprendizaje de lenguas, con atención a la Generación Z (Gen Z) y a sus necesidades educativas. El articulo sostiene el potencial de las tecnologías XR para la experimentación didáctica en relación con los perfiles de aprendizaje de la Gen Z. Los miembros de la Gen Z muestran preferencia por entornos de aprendizaje interactivos, mediados por la tecnología y de carácter experiencial. Las tecnologías XR, que incluyen la realidad virtual, aumentada y mixta, proporcionan entornos inmersivos y ricos en contexto que pueden favorecer el uso situado de la lengua, la implicación del estudiante y la motivación, además de ofrecer condiciones de práctica de bajo riesgo que pueden contribuir a mitigar la ansiedad lingüística. La integración de la XR en la educación plantea desafíos vinculados al coste, la accesibilidad, la competencia digital, la carga cognitiva y las consideraciones éticas. El artículo subraya, por tanto, la necesidad de alinear las tareas lingüísticas basadas en XR con las características, necesidades y restricciones del estudiantado de la Gen Z, con el objetivo de contribuir a una comprensión más contextualizada y crítica del papel de la XR en la didáctica de lenguas.

Mariasophia Falcone, University of Bergamo

Mariasophia Falcone es profesora adjunta de Lengua Inglesa en la Universidad de Bérgamo (Italia), donde anteriormente ocupó un puesto de investigación posdoctoral centrado en las aplicaciones de la realidad extendida en la enseñanza del inglés para fines específicos. Es doctora en Lengua Inglesa y Lingüística por la Universidad de Módena y Reggio Emilia. Sus principales líneas de investigación incluyen la lingüística de corpus y el análisis del discurso, con especial atención a los contextos digitales, la sostenibilidad y el uso de tecnologías de realidad extendida en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas.

Patrizia Anesa, University of Bergamo

Patrizia Anesa es profesora titular de Lengua Inglesa, Lingüística y Traducción en la Universidad de Bérgamo (Italia). Es miembro del Centro de Investigación en Lenguajes Especializados (CERLIS) y editora asociada del proyecto IDEA (International Dialects of English Archive). En la actualidad, desarrolla investigaciones sobre el uso de la realidad extendida en el aprendizaje de inglés para fines específicos y es investigadora principal del proyecto PRIN “Enhancing ESP competence in professional and educational contexts via augmented reality” (2023-2026). Su volumen Lexical Innovation in World Englishes: Cross-Fertilization and Evolving Paradigms (Routledge, 2019) fue galardonado con el premio ESSE (European Society for the Study of English) Book Prize 2020 y recibió la mención honorífica de la AIA en 2022.
